If you were driving down State Highway 660/East 8th Street in Ferris on Saturday morning, June 7, you may have seen something unexpected—cars pulling over, people praying on the church driveway, and smiles being handed out along with sack lunches and goodie bags.
It was all part of Crossover ’25, the annual evangelistic effort that precedes the Southern Baptist Convention each year. Since this year’s SBC Annual Meeting was held in Dallas, churches across the Metroplex stepped up to serve their communities in tangible ways.
Ferris Baptist Fellowship, led by Pastor Bob Mashburn, knew exactly how they wanted to be involved: by covering their city in prayer.
Members were holding signs, lined the driveway and waved over cars, inviting drivers to stop for a moment of encouragement and prayer. Some people shared burdens and others simply needed a blessing or a reminder that God sees them. Each request was passed along to a team of dedicated prayer warriors on site, who committed to lifting up every name and need.
As a token of love, each person received a sack lunch, and the kids were sent off with goodie bags and smiles. What might have looked like a simple drive-thru station became a powerful moment of ministry, reminding people that God often meets us in the middle of our ordinary paths.
For the members of Ferris Baptist Fellowship, it was more than just an event—it was a chance to live out their faith, love their neighbors, and be part of something bigger. It connected them not only to their city, but to a larger movement of churches across DFW serving their own communities that same weekend.
Pastor Mashburn didn’t want to just watch the convention—he wanted to bring the heart of it to Ferris. This was their way of saying, God loves you, and so do we.
It was a beautiful snapshot of what happens when the Church steps outside its walls and onto the road—literally.
